India's Reliance Money starts operations in Europe

MUMBAI, Aug 29 (Reuters) - The broking unit of India's Reliance Capital (RLCP.BO: Quote , Profile , Research , Stock Buzz ) said on Friday it had launched operations in the UK and Ireland to tap the Indians living in Europe. "This is our first move to reach out to the large base of over 2 million Indians based in Europe," Sudip Bandyopadhyay, chief executive of Reliance Money, said in a statement. Reliance Money, which aims to get half its revenue from overseas by 2012, started operations in Hong Kong in May partnering a local firm and launched a joint venture in Saudi Arabia in July. The company is part of the group controlled by Indian billionaire Anil Ambani. IOC, Oil India looking for partners to bid for assets

Kolkata: Indian Oil and Oil India Ltd combine is looking for partners to participate in the next bidding round for oil and gas exploratory assets in Australia. The round is expected to open in next couple of months. Indian authorities relax Kashmir curfew on 7th day

SRINAGAR, India : Violence ebbed in Indian Kashmir on Saturday and authorities relaxed the curfew for six hours to allow people to buy food and other essentials, police said. Two groups of hundreds of protesters briefly came out onto the streets of Kashmir's largest city, Srinagar, but dispersed after raising banners saying "We want independence from India" and "Release separatist leaders." There was no confrontation with thousands of security forces deployed to enforce the curfew, a police officer said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The officer said 109 activists from the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, an umbrella group of separatist political and religious leaders, have been arrested since the curfew was imposed last Sunday. Dubai, August 30: : India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni retained his place at the top of the batting chart while teammate Zaheer Khan stormed into the top 20 of the ICC ODI bowlers' rankings issued on Saturday. Dhoni, who had toppled his South African counterpart Graeme Smith off the top spot on August 28, maintained a 21-point lead from the Protea skipper with 793. They were followed by Australia captain Ricky Ponting, his teammate Mike Hussey and Pakistani Md Yousuf. The 27-year-old from Jharkhand was the leading run-scorer in the five-match series against Sri Lanka with 193 runs which helped him displace Smith. Dhoni, who won the player-of-the-series award, was also on top of the batting list for a week in April 2006 and is the first Indian batsman to head the batting chart since Sachin Tendulkar.
